رواية "في ذاكرتي مكان - الجذور" رواية خيالية ذات نفس تاريخي تراثي، تبحر بنا مؤلفتها في تاريخ عائلة قطرية متخيلة، تعيش في واحدة من قرى الشمال في قطر، قبل نحو مئة وخمسين عامًا. ومن خلال أحداث الرواية ترسم لنا المؤلفة كثيرًا من الصور الحية لبعض مظاهر الحياة في مدن قطر وقراها قبل اكتشاف النفط، وما صاحبها من من حل وترحال وأدوات وملابس ومهن شهيرة، لعل أهمها الغوص في الخليج بحثًا عن اللؤلؤ، وعليها مدار هذه الرواية. ففي عصر أربعاء من ربيع عام 1896، تجرأت حصة بنت غانم وتوسلت باكية إلى زوجها مبارك بن مشرف ألا يأخذ ابنها الصغير "مشرف" ذا الأعوام السبعة في رحلة "الخانكية" المقبلة (وهي رحلة الغوص في فصل الربيع)، مؤكدة أن حلمًا مزعجًا لا يزال يراودها، ويثير في نفسها الفزع. لكن زوجها مبارك بن مشرف لا يأبه لطلبها ويصر على اصطحابه الطفل الصغير في رحلته، فماذا سيحدث للطفل الصغير مشرف ولأمه حصة بعد الانطلاق في رحلة الغوص والبحث عن اللؤلؤ؟ هذا ما ستكشف عنه أحداث الرواية.
